A highly anticipated international art event, the 2024 Venice Biennale Contemporary Parallel Exhibition, has officially begun. Organized in collaboration with the Chinese Culture Promotion Society and More Art, and invited by the Venice government, the Italian Art Roads Association, and the 60th Venice Biennale organizers, this exhibition serves as a global platform for promoting Chinese contemporary art. The initiative aims to expand international outreach, showcase Chinese contemporary artists on the world stage, and enhance their global influence.

The exhibition is hosted at the Palazzo Pisani-Revedin, a historic palace that predates 1200 AD. The Pisani family played a significant role in the political, economic, and cultural history of the Venetian Republic. Today, the palace is one of the official venues for the Venice Biennale.

Under the theme "桥 ‘Ciao’" (Bridge), the exhibition symbolizes the role of art as a bridge connecting the world in the post-pandemic era. It seeks to promote Chinese traditional culture globally and foster international cultural exchange. A highlight of the exhibition is the participation of two Chinese artists, Su Yang and Cai Ming. Showcasing over 70 works, Su Yang’s pieces utilize multimedia techniques, ranging from photography to painting, with a focus on the value of light. Cai Ming’s works, characterized by layered images, create a dialogue between Chinese traditional art history and Western art history, bridging the past and the contemporary. These two distinct approaches complement each other in today’s Venice, offering a harmonious artistic juxtaposition.

"Venice has given us a warm welcome. Many visitors have expressed their admiration for the exhibits, fostering closer communication and collaboration between the international and Chinese art communities," the organizers stated. Curator and President Claudio Giannini added, “Despite their different styles and methods, these two outstanding artists have been boldly paired together, creating artistic beauty through contrast and interplay.”

Claudio Giannini, the curator of this exhibition, was born in 1949 in Viareggio, Italy. A distinguished cultural activist and exhibition organizer, he has long been involved in organizing exhibitions in Volterra and at several renowned venues. In Florence, he has curated multiple national-level events and established collaborations with institutions such as the Palazzo Pegaso and the French Academy.

Additionally, Claudio Giannini, as President of the Italian Art Roads Association, presented Su Yang, a representative of More Art, with an official letter of appointment, further strengthening Sino-Italian collaboration in the arts.

As a key participant, More Art is dedicated to promoting Chinese artists overseas and facilitating cross-border art transactions. The organization focuses on two main business areas: "Global Online Transactions for Chinese Artworks" and "International Curation of Chinese Art and Culture." It connects with major international exhibitions, global cultural foundations, and collectors to support the establishment of a national cultural export base and a pioneer zone for the international trade of cultural and artistic products.

This artistic feast will be on display in Venice from August 9 to August 31, 2024, with media promotion continuing through August and September. The exhibition promises to deliver a spectacular artistic journey, elevating cultural exchange and cooperation between China and the rest of the world to new heights.
